Today is overcast and cool. Not much like summer weather!! We are to attend a Canada Day party this evening and hopefully the rain will hold off for the fireworks!! Each family is to bring a special firework and we will give the kids a little show tonight!!

I finally went back to the gym after two weeks. It felt good to work up a sweat from a work out instead of sweating from being febrile. I was a little under the weather for the past week. I still have a bit of a sore back and neck but I did start back up with my free weights. I started out pretty light today to see how my back and neck felt.
I would of preferred to stay in bed and lounge like my two feline buddies, Sammy and Abby but it actually did feel good to get back to the gym.
Have a great day and I hope the weather clears up a bit!!
Cheers!!

Happy Sunday!!

I love Sundays! We have absolutely no plans today other than swimming at my parents.

Sunday means fresh cinnamon buns, coffee and sitting on the deck being lazy!!

Our dinner party Friday night was lots of fun. We had great food and lots of laughs.
We BBQ'd pork chops and beef and chicken kabobs, had cajun roasted mini potatoes, spinach salad and roasted eggplant and zucchini. Lots of good wine too!!
We had these yummy cannolis for dessert and Irish coffee. Needless to say I had to roll myself to bed at night and getting up at 5 in the morning for work was rather difficult.

I usually like to do my post at night when everyone has gone to bed, the house is quiet and I can gather my thoughts and reflect on the days events. Today I am posting early because I am having company tonight and I have to be to work tomorrow morning for 7 a.m. I will probably not post for much of the weekend as we will be busy with Canada Day stuff. Yeah Canada!!!!! What a great place to live!

I purchased some nice Canadian Chardonnay today. I usually drink wine from California or Australia but I thought I would try some of our wines!! The label attracts me to the bottle, a funky colourful label makes me feel that I have bought a nice accessorie and this one I can drink!!!
I really know very little about wines, I do know that I enjoy a nice cold glass of wine in the evening and I must admit that after my third glass of wine my taste buds become a bit numb and I am unable to distinguish the whites unless it is extremely dry. I do not like real dry wines. Aren't these labels great?

I also purchased some herbs today for my kitchen. I love the little pots and my kitchen smells so good. I bought rosemary, oregano and basil.
Have a great weekend and next week I may try to post some of the little handbags and stuff I have made.
Cheers!!

Here they are again, just hanging around waiting to be baked or thrown in the freezer............

I was feeling rather tired today after working nights last night but there were those brown bananas staring me in the eye again today. I decided to mash them up and whip up a banana chocolate bundt cake.

I swirled the chocolate part in, I love that marbled appearance when it is baked!!

Here is the finished banana chocolate bundt cake with icing sugar!!

Yummy, doesn't that look good? My family loves banana cake with chocolate swirled through it. Sometimes I just add chocolate chips to give it a hint of chocolate.
E-mail me if you want the recipe.

Look at those rather sad bananas. I had very good intentions of making some banana bread today but got busy really doing nothing but futzing around the house.

Tomorrow the bananas will be even less yellow and they will be staring at me on the counter. I will debate whether to make the bread or throw them in the freezer for a time when I am really craving banana bread.

Cheers!

I bought some fabric yesterday, I love shopping for fabric and notions. I am going to make a window topper for the kitchen with the black/pepper fabric and the middle fabric will be a topper for the back door out to our deck. The pink fabric will be for some curtains for Maddi's room. She has a bright pink and white bedroom, if there is extra fabric some fun pillows will be made.

Here are the two beautiful daughters I was talking about. They do keep me busy!!! Alli is my older one and she is done her first year of high school. Maddi my younger one has one more day of school and then she will be hanging around Mom all summer.

Have a great Tuesday!!

Cheers

First Blog

This is my first post.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY!! It has been raining on and off for about a week now, one advantage, I do not have to spend my evenings watering my gardens!! The sun is finally shining now which makes me think I should go outside and do something in the gardens or cut the lawn.

I did some grocery shopping today, a job I dislike, mostly because of the expense but also because I am always stuck for dinner ideas. I did find making a weekly menu made my shopping more enjoyable but I have not been able to consistently prepare a menu before it is time to get groceries!!!

Tell me how two bags of groceries and one box of no name popsicles cost 70 dollars and 17 cents?? This is why I do not enjoy grocery shopping!!!

I did get a few of my favourite treats however. Pickles, kalamata olives and beets!!!

Cheers!!
