Work Day

I left for work at 6:30 in the morning and did not get home until 8:30 this evening. Tomorrow I am in for another long day and then off for the weekend. I did not get to feel the warm temperatures today because I was in the air conditioned hospital all day.
Well, I must get a few things ready so I can have another early start and then off to bed.

Rainy Day

Good Morning:

Today is a rainy day, good for the gardens and the grass!! It is a good day for me as well because I had planned on being inside working on my daughter's room today. We started taking her border down months ago but as summer approached we have not had time and the previous owners glued the border on making it even more difficult to get down. Her room is messy as you see but it looks ten times worse with part of the border taken down and stuff all over the place. My daughter reassures me that all her friends rooms are messy.......I guess that is suppose to make me feel better about the constant mess!!

We have to finish taking her teddy bear border down, after all she is 15. Then she wants to paint her room either orange or red and she is getting some dark brown furniture. She has a funky blown glass orange globe light from the seventies that she wants to hang over her papysan chair in the corner of her room. She wants to make the room bohemian in nature with a bamboo blind and some red and orange linens. The pink candy stripes and teddy bears did their time but now she needs a little hang out!!

A Beautiful Summer Day

Today was a beautiful summer day. I ran errands with the girls today and then we went to have lunch and a swim at my parents. This evening I watered all my plants and did some sewing. I finally made a list of things that I need to do before the end of summer. One of those things is my daughter's curtains that I just keep putting on the back burner. I made a couple more wristlets tonight.

A wonderful day in a teen's life!!

Today my daughter had her braces removed.....she has been so excited and now she is pumped!!!

I had forgotten how her teeth looked prior to the braces, but they look great now!! She looked cute with braces and she is even cuter now!!

Lazy Day

I'm having a lazy day today, not too much going on. We have had a fairly busy weekend and now it is time to wind down. My husband must return to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. I must start up again this week as well. I fortunately only have to work two days this week so hopefully I will be able to catch up on some neglected chores at home. The summer is flying by and in a couple of weeks the kids will be excited to go "back to school" shopping.

Another Wristlet

I made this wristlet out of two pant legs I cut off of a pair of pants a couple of years ago. I made the pants into capri pants. The pants have disappeared but I saved the cut off legs.

last day of my vacation

Today I went to the fabric store with my younger daughter. We only had half an hour to look around because we had to get somewhere after that. I picked up the things I needed and spotted so much fabric I loved!! I will have to go back when we have a couple hours to spend there because the store is rather disorganized and messy but it has the most choice of fabrics and notions in the city. It is an old warehouse that has been converted to a crafter's store. The prices are reasonable but you have to search around. Tonight out for a tea with a friend and then back to work tomorrow. That really does not excite me!!

Me Day

Good Morning:

I have a day of ME planned. I am just getting up and the rest of my family is still sleeping. I am going to put a pot of coffee on and then go out in the garden and see how nice and fresh everything is after the rain. This morning I am getting a pedicure and after lunch I am going to get my hair done. Tonight Hubby and I are going out for dinner and drinks down town. Only two more days left of my vacation.

Last night I made a new wristlet. I decided to put some gathers in it and it turned out rather good!! Tomorrow I need to go to the fabric store and purchase some new fabric, I am getting tired of seeing the fabric I have and trying to use up all the scraps!! The kids want to pick out some material for new pencil cases for school. I also want to make a gym tote for my older daughter because she leaves her stinky gym clothes at school all week in the locker room.

Happy Tuesday

The weather has been beautiful today. It is sunny and the air is dry!! I went to the gym this morning and cut my workout short because my ipod was out of juice!! I cannot work out without tunes. Came home and did some errands and then we went to visit my parents and the kids went swimming. My hubby has gone golfing this evening and I am just doing some stuff in my sewing room. It has been a nice relaxing day. The girls have occupied themselves quite nicely and I even was able to catch 10 minutes of shut eye this afternoon.

Still on Vacation

Yes, I am still on vacation until Friday!! Just hanging around town this week, doing some gardening and around the house stuff. Today we went for a stroll downtown with the kids. We looked in some shops and went for a beverage on a patio.
I did do some sewing today, had to warm up my machine for the dreaded curtain project I have been putting off...... I made another wristlet and promised myself I would finish the curtains for both my daughters' rooms by the start of school.

Home Sweet Home

We are home from our week in Myrtle Beach! It took 17 hours to drive home, 2 hours longer than usual. The traffic was backed up in places, the kids needed many stops and we hit some bad rain in areas.
We had a wonderful vacation but it is good to be home. The only thing is I have tons of laundry, and I have to go get groceries because the fridge is empty.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I will need a couple of days to get organized at home now and then back to work towards the end of the week. Not looking forward to the "back to work" part!!

Last day at the Beach

Today will be our last day here at the beach. We leave for home tomorrow morning and will be on the road for about 15-16 hours. It is kind of bitter-sweet. I love being on vacation but I always love going home!! Today it is overcast with a 60 percent of rain so we may have to resort to shopping, one thing my husband despises!! However, by telling him that there may be a few golf shirts in it for him he may go for it.........

I have been thinking about some new sewing projects while on vacation. It is a good time to think while sitting on the beach staring out into the ocean.

I told you how much I dislike amusement parks but I actually did have fun there yesterday!! The shows were very good and the kids had fun!! I always consider it a good day when the kids are happy at the end of it........

My husband enjoyed himself as well, he is a real kid at heart!!

I walked to Starbucks for my morning Earl Grey and I had my eye on the Marble Pound Cake. I did buy some for our breakfast. It was yummy!! I am going to try and make some of that when we return from holidays, I will cut the sugar in half.
We were on the ocean for a bit this morning, it is a hot sunny day and you can't be out too long. We are going to an amusement park this afternoon, I thoroughly dislike amusement parks but my family gets very excited about them!!
I went to Food Lion for some groceries this morning and spotted a store called Stein Mart. It looked a little "old lady" like as my younger daughter would say. I did score a pair of new sunglasses and a pair of cute sandals.
Hope everyone is having a great summer and enjoying having the kids home!! They do enjoy being home and doing family vacations!!

Kitchen

Gotta love my kitchen in the hotel. Small but functional. We make our breakfasts and lunches and we go out for dinner every night. The kids are taking a break from the hot hot sun!1

We went and did a little shopping at one of the Tanger outlets last night, didn't see anything that caught my eye. I did notice that every other woman had a Vera Bradley handbag of some sort. I do like the back pack one in the green colours, I almost thought about hunting one down but then decided not to for the simple reason that too many people have them. I would rather find an original back pack on Etsy.

Myrtle Beach

We are on the beach today!! It is a beautiful day!! The beach is packed!!

finished bag

My bag is finished, however it did not turn out quite as I had imagined it to. I do not work from patterns so everything I do is always a surprise. I did not do some of the assembly in the proper order so the next steps were always more difficult.

It is very handy, I like to have my hands free when I am with the children or shopping so it really is a useful bag. Not sure if I will attempt another one, don't know what my next project will be. I do know that I will have to do my daughter's curtains when I return from vacation...........not really looking forward to that project but it has to be done!!

Not much going on today. We are getting ready to go on our trip and there are lots of things that have to be done before we leave. I have loads of laundry to finish, my older daughter brought a huge bag of laundry home from camp. Yikes!! It was all damp and smelled like a fire pit. It doesn't matter how many times you tell the kids, they still throw wet towels in with the rest of the dry stuff!! I guess they figure it all has to be washed anyway......
I have to get the house prepared for the person staying here to look after our feline friends.
Don't have any time to sew today, I may get to cut out some fabric but I won't get into the sewing tonight.

Good Morning:
It is going to be another great day weather wise. I am on call all day so I cannot get into any big projects. I will start getting suitcases ready for our trip and start some packing. Today we pick up our older daughter from camp. She will have a big pile of laundry that will need to be done before our trip.
I may or not be posting while we are away, it depends if I have internet access or not.

M.I.A. Kitten

My kitten was missing in action. I gave up looking for her and happened upon her while putting laundry away in my daughter's trundle. I guess cats like messy beds as children like messy rooms........

Sewing troubles

I am really struggling with this bag. I had to leave and run some errands and come back fresh. Now I have to get away from it again for a bit. The picture of the bag in my head is not the same as what is coming out on the sewing machine!!! Frustrating!!! ..............

Hopefully I will be able to show you the finished bag at some point or I may get so frustrated that I will throw it in my drawer of "unfinished business". My drawer of "unfinished business" reminds me of "The Land of the Misfit Toys" from the children's program Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

I will be spending my day in my sewing room. I am working on a new bag. I will have to run out to the fabric store for some notions but other than that I will be doing some laundry to prepare for our trip and sewing and strolling out in my yard. It is a beautiful dry summer day and the sun is shining. The humidity yesterday was awful so it is a pleasure to have this dry heat today.

CAT NAP

I did some sewing this afternoon, it was very hot and humid today. I really wanted to have a cat nap but I wanted to get my sewing project done. I was making an apron for my husband's Aunt. It turned out well, but I wrapped it up and forgot to take a picture of it. I will be making more for Christmas presents for the ladies in our families.
It is raining now and hopefully the air will cool down a bit.
