Happy Sunday

It is a beautiful Sunday morning!! I am home without kids and hubby. They went camping for the weekend, it is an annual camp out and baseball tournament in Guelph. I was on call for 12 hours yesterday so I was unable to go. I did lots of organizing and cleaning out of closets. I am slowly trying to finish off the girls bedrooms. I ordered roman blinds for their windows yesterday and bought the linens for my older daughter's room. I was very happy with the linens, I think now that I have cleaned out my linen closet I will go back and buy some new sheets for our bed. I need two very large mirrors for over their dressers, one with white border and one with dark wood.

I must get some groceries today for back to school lunches, I must say that is the worst part of school for me, my kids are old enough to pack their own lunches but sometimes I need to regulate what they put in or they will sneak too many snacks.

Have a wonderful day and a long weekend for my fellow Canadians!!

Preparing for Back to School

Well, we have been busy preparing stuff for back to school next week. I helped my Mom as I do every Wednesday with some morning care. The kids are sleeping in late and will have to change that rather quickly because next week it is back to the grind for them. I have not been able to spend any time sewing in the last couple of weeks but hopefully will be able to do some again soon. The summer has gone by very quickly, it seems like just yesterday the kids were preparing for summer holidays!!
Have a great day!
Cheers

Happy Sunday

Today was a day of laundry and doing tidying around the house. I worked the last two days and then had a girl's night out last night so I was a little fatigued today. All I could do was putter around the house. My youngest daughter came home from a week of camping with a friend and her family so I had some bon-fire smelling clothes to wash after I was finished my regular laundry. It was nice to see my daughter, I missed her and she said she missed us but she did not want to call because that would make her really miss us!! She is a home body, she is very social but does not like to be gone from home without her family for too long. It was another hot day today, after the rain showers in the morning it cleared up nicely.
Tomorrow some errands to run and visiting my folks and then work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!!
Cheers!!

Happy Friday

My sewing room being used as a painter's room!!

Well, it is Friday already. I have been off much of the week and cannot say I got much accomplished. I got caught up on my sleep from working night shifts the week prior and did some odds and ends around the house. I am working evenings tonight and a 12 hour day tomorrow and then it is girl's night out. Our husband's are going on a golf trip and the wives are having a get together tomorrow night for Chinese food, blender drinks and just girl "talk". I have not done much sewing the last couple of weeks because we are winding down to back to school and the kids are needing me to drive them to get supplies and do some clothes shopping. I will wait until they back to school to start into sewing again. My sewing room is being used now to hold doors from daughter's room that my husband painted with oil base paint. They have to be locked in a room while they are drying because our furry cats love to investigate different, new things and we could visualize their tails brushing up against the freshly painted doors so he painted them in my sewing room.

I am just enjoying my morning coffee and then I think I will go out in the garden and cut the lawn for some exercise since I have not been to the gym in quite some time, another thing to do when the kids return to school!!

I discovered my single cup coffee drip that I had in one of my kitchen cupboards. I do not like making a pot of coffee for just me in the morning because my husband leaves very early for work and then I usually make a pot of coffee and drink too much!! The coffee tastes just as good in my little melitta drip that my Mom gave me a long time ago.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers

The Perfect Day!!

I took my Mom for her specialist appointment today and she was given a clean bill of health today. We will return again in 3 months both anxious prior to the appointment and feeling relieved when we leave. As I told you in an earlier post my Mother only has a quarter of her heart functioning and really is a miracle. Each day is a huge struggle but we manage to do the best we can.
My Mom was very happy with her results today at the Doctor so she wanted to take me out to lunch as we do after every appointment. We picked up my teen daughter and the three of us had a good lunch and some laughs, I like to see my Mom smiling and laughing and I know my daughter brings that out in my Mom. It was a nice afternoon. We took my Mom home and then my daughter and I went to do some shopping and then to Starbucks for a beverage. My younger daughter is away until Sunday so it is nice to have some one on one time with my teen.
I felt good today because my daughter gave up her afternoon with friends to go shopping with me. That does not happen often, her peers are very important to her but she really is a home body and enjoys doing family stuff!!
It is interesting how I used to long for the days when I had some of my own time, when the kids would be able to be more independent and now I find myself sitting alone sometimes wishing the kids were pulling on my shirt demanding my attention. Such is life......

Hope you are all having a wonderful day!
Cheers!!

Beautiful Day

It was a very beautiful summer day today. My youngest daughter left for a six day camping trip with her friend and her friend's family. Two weeks left until the start of school. The kids are getting a little excited about seeing all their friends again. My kids go to school downtown so the children that go to their schools come from all over the city not just our neighbourhood, therefore they have not seen many of the kids they go to school with all summer.

They are busy buying their school stuff and we still have to go and pick out some fabric for pencil cases.

My older daughter's room is still under renovations. The paint job is done, just some trim work and then waiting for the furniture to arrive. That should be next week sometime.

Hope everyone had a good day today. I don't have many plans for tomorrow, helping my Mom with some morning care and then I have to pick my older daughter up from a sleep over and perhaps I will go and get my toes done tomorrow afternoon. I have been very bad, I have not been to the gym in two weeks, I will have to start back up regularly when the kids are in school.

Have a great day tomorrow. I included a pic of my daughters new room colour. Bright yellow and she will have orange accents and dark brown furniture.
Cheers!!

Wonderful Sunday

I have been working much of the week so I have had no time and nothing exciting to tell you. Today it is a beautiful sunny day. I think the temperatures are going to warm up again this week. The humidity is returning. The evenings are cooler and it is getting dark much earlier now. A sign that fall is approaching.
I do enjoy the cool evenings, shorts and skirts by day and jeans by night.
We are moving old furniture out of my daughter's bedroom today and cleaning the floors to get ready for new furniture next week. The walls are painted and just some trim needs to be finished up. My goal was to have her room done by school start which is Sept. 2 and I believe it will be on time if the furniture arrives on time and is okay.
I will hopefully enjoy a tea later today with a friend while my husband is golfing.
Have a great Sunday!!

Cheers

running errands kind of a day.....

I have nothing fun and exciting to tell you. I have been working nights which means on my days off I am catching up on lost sleep. I ran some errands today and went to help my Mom with some morning care and did her hair for her.
I am going to make some spaghetti sauce shortly for a spaghetti dinner tonight. My husband is working on our teen daughter's room. He is in the process of painting and her furniture and new mattresses will come in the next couple of weeks. She chose yellow walls and she wants orange accents. Her new furniture will be dark brown. It should look nice when it is all put together.

Have a great day!!

Cheers!!

Happy Sunday

Did I ever tell you I love Sundays? I really love Sundays. Today the day started out wet and cold. The rain stopped this afternoon and now the sun is shining. I am just preparing dinner and then I will go out and sit on the deck for a bit. My husband is in a golf tournament today and my kids and I went to get paint for the teen bedroom reno. We then went to my parents for a visit. My Dad always makes the best coffee, I love that cup of coffee in the late afternoon. Tomorrow I will do some more house chores and then I have to work nights.
Hope you are all having a nice Sunday!!

Cheers!!

Rainy Day

Yesterday was such a lovely day and today the sky is grey and it is wet and cool!! It was a good day to sleep, I came home from my night shift around 8 am this morning and snuggled into bed. I slept about 4 and a half hours, that is average for me when I work nights. Today I have been working on some more wristlets. This evening my husband and I are going out for dinner and a few drinks. I will be ready for bed early tonight!!
Nothing new, just being lazy today!!
Cheers!!

Procrastinator

Finished another wristlet, further procrastination of my larger projects!! I am just using up my scrap fabrics to make my wristlets. The kids want to sell them at the craft sale next June. We sold some wristlets and handbags this past June and the kids want to do it again. I will work all winter on these wristlets so by spring we should have a good number of them.

I think I will make aprons for all the women in my family for Christmas. Every year I make something special for the ladies!! Perhaps when I clean out my linen closet which happens to be one of the things on my list, I will find some linens that I can refashion into aprons!!

Have a great day!!
Cheers

SAHM day

Today my day started with an early morning trip to the gym. On my way home from the gym I received a call on my cell from my teen daughter asking me to come to the house where she was babysitting . One of the little girls she was babysitting vomited on the floor and my teen did not think she could clean it up. My daughter has a very over active gag reflex, since she was a tot and the slightest unsightly thing makes her vomit..... I went to help clean up and then we got the little girl back to bed. Next, I had to go and do my Mom's weekly shower, hair wash and her nails. My Mom only has one quarter of her heart working, she has been very ill for 3 years and is home with my Dad who looks after her 24/7. I live 2 minutes away so I am there daily helping her and keeping her spirits up. Some days I drive away from there crying about how debilitated my Mom has become but then I think about how blessed I am to still have my Mom around. As sick as my Mom is she is always thinking about my well being, she truly is a Mom!! After helping my Mom I took my younger daughter on my errands and we came home and made a marble pound cake. I bought a new tube pan last night and I wanted to try it out!! It worked out great and my family thought the pound cake tasted super!! While I had my apron on I decided to get an early start on dinner so I could relax around dinner preparation time. I quite enjoyed my "stay at home Mom" day!! I actually have 2 jobs, one casual and one part time. I usually work 2 shifts a week so I get the best of both worlds. I do have to admit that sometimes I go to work for a rest.........
Hope you are having a great week!!
Cheers!!

Holiday Weekend

Pictures from the cottage on Lake Erie!!

It is Sunday of our long weekend. We got back today from our friend's cottage on Lake Erie. It was a great two days, however my husband and I were saying that we are both beached out!!

We have been to the local beaches several times this summer and we went to Myrtle beach for a week in July as well.

I am working the next couple of weekends which will keep us in town for a bit. I have a huge pile of laundry to do which will keep me busy for the next couple of days.

I am slowly chopping away at my "list of things to get done by September". I have completed one thing on the list which is quite an accomplishment for me while the kids are home for the summer.

Hope all my fellow Canadians have a good holiday Monday tomorrow and for the rest of you I wish you a good start to your week ahead!!
Cheers!!
